Thoughtful Thursday - Images from Rajasthan

Just home from Rajasthan in India, where I was lucky enough to see the opium poppies in full flower, many wonderful birds and glorious faces. And now it's time to catch up with our English gardens - after the wettest winter in recorded history, I fear there's going to be more than mud out there!

  1. These are beautiful photos! What is the young woman sitting in? It looks like crushed something or other.

I love how you captured the gentleman looking right at you in photo #4. His eyes are looking into your soul.

Both womens clothing are so colorful and lovely.

Thank you for sharing some of Rajasthan with us.

Hope your English gardens dry out for you soon.

    Happy Spring ~ FlowerLady

    1. Thank you for your comments Lorraine. You are absolutely right - the young woman is sitting on salt. This shot was taken at Sambhar Lake near Jaipur.

  4. Beautiful photos as always Charlotte. How surprising to see that opium poppies are white! And in what is that young woman sitting? Is it some kind of salt?

    1. Thank you Catherine. The opium poppies are an amazing sight at this time of year and are only grown in certain areas, although India is one of the world's leading producers of opium for pharmaceutical purposes. And yes, you are right, the young woman is sitting on unrefined salt.

  6. Such a good title for an amazing short but powerful photographic portrait of India (or at least for that region)!
All of them are very touching, and expressive.
