Thank you to all my fellow Blotanists!
I just got home from the US and want to say a big thank-you to all my fellow Blotanists who voted for me in this year's awards. I've really enjoyed being part of this blogging community for the last few months and made some great friends and am especially honoured that my humble blog got voted for and placed in two of the categories. Again - thank you!
I'm too tired to do a long entry today, but wanted to leave you with this amazing plant that I saw on my way to the airport yesterday at the Marie Selby Botanical Gardens in Sarasota - it's a stunner and I've certainly never seen one before, although I'm sure that many other Blotanists will already know it.
This is the White Bat flower - tacca integrifolia - also known as cat's whiskers and devil's tongue, a perennial that is found naturally in South-East Asia, India and China. But if you're in Florida... don't miss it while it's in flower.
Congratulations and lovely photo reminds me of a plant I saw at RHS Hampton Cort Flower show but that was smaller but I wonder if it is the same family.
ReplyDeleteBig congratulations to you! Yours is truly a treat to read and explore new gardens all over the world.
ReplyDeleteThat Tacca intergifolia is pretty amazing.
I've never seen that before, it's beautiful! Congrats on your wins too!
ReplyDeleteYou have such an interesting blog and I always enjoy reading it. Reading it makes me want to travel so I can see many of these places in person. I'm glad to have "met" you through blogging. Congrats on the nominations!
ReplyDeleteYou can grow it here too as a conservatory plant. Thompson and Morgan sell Tacca chantrierei (Black) also Tacca Nivea (very white). I have been very tempted in the past but yet to succumb.
ReplyDeleteMany Congrats on the awards - very well deserved!
Congratulations on your Blotanical award! Good job! As for the plant, I saw it in Hawaii, it certainly likes warm and moisture...
