Confessions of a hibiscus hunter!

Hibiscus "Millenium Superstar" at Marie Selby Botanical Gardens, Sarasota
I have to hold my hand up and confess that yesterday's post was an April Fool joke and I'd digitally altered all the blooms on my blog, to give them different colours and made up their names! But today's pictures are all genuine and were taken at the Marie Selby Botanical Garden here in Sarasota earlier this week.
The colours here are real and show some of the unusual variegated hibiscus on display at the gardens, which is one of my favourites here in Florida, along with Bok Tower and The Kampong. But I also have to confess that I only found a name for the top flower and am unable to tell you the names of these two. So it just means I'll have to make another trip back to Marie Selby to find out!
I'm also happy to tell you that I've been featured in Horticulture's Best Gardening Blogs for 2011 - thank you!

  1. I always fall for all the April Fools gags. At this stage of life, I'm probably never going to wise up, so I guess I'll have to hold out for some kind of "most gullible" award! -Jean

  3. Congrats!!! I love the sherbet colors of these hibiscus. The one in the top photo looks like it's made out of crepe paper.
