The best of British cottage gardens - Chiffchaffs, Dorset

Chiffchaffs in Dorset is a delightful cottage garden surrounding a property that is more than 400 years old in parts. Well worth making a visit to if you want ideas for your garden at home and with an adjoining nursery - Abbey Plants - where you can buy many of the plants you see in the garden. I'm going to let the pictures tell the story.

Sadly, this garden is no longer open to the public, so these pictures just serve as memories. But there are other good gardens locally, including Barrington Court, Lytes Cary and Tintinhull.

  1. Wonderful! My favorite photo is of the yellow flower filled field with the gate.

  3. This garden has some amazing structure with the shrubs and evergreens. The photograph you snapped looking through the slotted fence at the two trees in the field is stunning. That field just makes you want to run through it for some reason =). As always, I enjoy looking at your photographs. This is a beautiful garden.

  4. This garden is really beautiful. The passages cut into the hedges are odd to me but quintessentially English. I wish I could visit. :o)
